LEADERSHIP SECRETS
The Perfect Recipe For
SuccessBy Sanjay

Leadership
is all about communicating with your subordinates and inspiring every
single person who works with you. Leadership is about making the work
environment less authoritative and more friendly. It's about talking to
people and making them think like you and think with you. Leadership is
about having a vision and convincing people around you to have the same
vision.
Leadership is about involving every member of
the organisation, especially during a crisis. An ideal leader is one who
can convince the management to include the entire team to collectively
take a decision. In fact, the new name of our company-Accenture-was
adopted after suggestions from 5,000 employees across the globe. An
exercise of this kind brings a sense of belonging to the entire team.
But leadership is also about realising that
not all decisions can be arrived at by a consensus. In certain situations,
a leader needs to take charge. When you are in charge, people see you as
more than just their boss. They see you as a mentor and guide and extend
complete cooperation. Leadership is about stressing on teamwork and
partnership. Indian companies are weak on alliance management. No leader
has all the qualities that brings success to an organisation. A leader
needs alliance and network in a company. Gone are the days when one could
say: ''Here is a chief with all the qualities.'' An ideal leader is one
who recognises his strengths and weaknesses.
Leadership is about trusting. A leader must
have faith in his people. It is not possible for anyone, no matter how
competent, to do any task single-handedly. Therefore, he should give
responsibilities to the other members of the teams. This not only makes
people more confident and responsible but contributes towards creating
leaders of tomorrow.
Most important, leadership is about hiring
the right people. It's the people who make an organisation. So picking up
the right people at the right time can create a perfect recipe for
success.
