LEADERSHIP SECRETS
The Will To Carry OnBy Arun

Vision
is the result of a clear focus. Focus and clarity of thought determine the
making of a good leader. The most challenging task of a leader is to
communicate his vision effectively, and thereby make it the core value of
every individual in the company. A leader can realise the objectives of
his company only by builing a team that believes in his vision. And a team
excels only when it believes in a common goal. To ensure that his team is
successful in every respect, it is essential for a leader to believe in
his people, and to explicitly show that he trusts them completely.
It is also mandatory for a leader to be
accessible to his team. A leader should be able to stand up for his team,
yet, be tough with them when needed. In fact, a leader should be a
team-player, a mentor, a friend, and a figure of authority-all at the same
time. It also helps to have a sense of humour, since it helps in
de-stressing the workplace.
Trust and confidence in the team-members
brings forth the best in them. A leader should be able to inspire and
evoke a sense of responsibility in all team-members. All the members of
the team should be convinced that the work done will make a difference to
both his or her personal goal and the objectives of the organisation.
We live in an era of constant change, and a
leader has to learn to adopt changes, and also accept things that cannot
be changed. It's this wisdom that he has to pass on to others. To quote
philosopher Walter Lippman, ''The final test of a leader is that he leaves
behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on.''
