Two Slab
Income Tax

The Kelkar panel, constituted to reform India's direct taxes, has reopened the tax debate-and at the individual level as well. Should we simplify the thicket of codifications that pass as tax laws? And why should tax calculations be so complicated as to necessitate tax lawyers? Should we move to a two-slab system? A report.

Dying Differentiation
This festive season has seen discount upon discount. Prices that seemed too low to go any lower have fallen further. Say P For Success

Leadership is about building winning characteristics into the organisation so that achievement levels exceed normal expectations. At Pramati, we follow a 5P model that has helped us scale unusual and exciting heights. The 5P model is applicable both at the individual as well as the organisational level and entails the following:

Purpose: Every leader has a vision. The most important characteristic of a winning company is that all employees should share this vision and understand the purpose behind every organisational goal.

The Dumb Shall Inherit The Inc.

Pride: Every employee should take pride in his or her company. Pride gives the employees of a company a sense of motivation and energy to strive for success. A leader should create an environment that instills this attitude in each employee. This adds to the brand equity of a company and customers like to deal with such companies.

Patience: Leaders should learn to be patient. Impatience leads to unnecessary tension and creates an uncomfortable work environment. Patience also helps a person think straight and think right in pressure situations and brings the right balance to work-styles.

Persistence: Leaders need to make sure that their teams understand that persistence is not about trying-but about the determination to achieve definite objectives.

Perspective: Employees need to reflect on how they can help their company achieve its objectives. Proper communication helps build the right perspective among employees.

The 5P model lays the foundation for an organisation's future successes by setting the right tenor from the beginning.
