Connecting With People

Leadership means communicating a vision that motivates and inspires others. A great leader should be able to transform and energise the people working in his organisation. He should have the ability to ignite passions and connect with his team. To go with this, he must also have strategic vision. His team should know where exactly it is headed and how it can translate that vision into reality.

A leader must constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities and challenges. My belief is firmly rooted in the 3S philosophy-systems, speed, and spirit. When combined with transparency, result-orientation, and empowerment, these three catalyse the organisation towards accelerated growth and create greater value for stakeholders.

An organisation is always greater than the individual. It is imperative that a leader ensures cohesiveness and teamwork, coupled with ambition, motivation, and a clear sense of purpose that transcends all levels of the organisation. It binds the team together and helps shape the organisation's fortunes and achieve its ultimate goals.

An essential aspect of great leadership is a high level of personal integrity. A strong value system goes a long way in creating the right role model for team members.

In today's ultra-competitive business environment, there is intense pressure on leaderships to perform. To ensure that vital decisions get taken on time, an organisation needs a second rung of leaders. These leaders must be part of a strategic think-tank and own collective responsibility for shaping their organisation's future.
